T20 World Cup 2024: WATCH - Rohit Sharma kisses Hardik Pandya in emotional moment after India’s title win

Emotions ran wild in the Indian camp after they ended much-awaited ICC trophy drought.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya | XTeam India lifted the T20 World Cup title for the second time after defeating South Africa by just seven runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday (June 29).

The atmosphere at the ground showed the significance of this triumph for the Indian team, combining celebration and raw emotion.

Skipper Rohit Sharma collapsed to the ground after the last ball was bowled, sealing India’s victory and ending their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought.

Rohit also kissed Hardik Pandya on the cheek when the emotional all-rounder was sharing his feelings with commentator Nasser Hussain after the title win.

India’s outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid, who is known for his calm and composed demeanour, couldn’t control his emotions either as he celebrated by jumping out of his chair.

Coming to the match, India posted a stiff total of 176/7 in on the board after opting to bat first, courtesy of good knocks from Virat Kohli (76 off 59) and Akshar Patel (47 off 31). Shivam Dube also played a brilliant cameo of 16-ball 27 in the death overs.

In reply, South Africa were cruising at one stage but the Indian pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah (2-18), Hardik Pandya (3-20) and Arshdeep Singh (2-20) pulled things back in the last five overs to restrict the Proteas to 169/8 in 20 overs.
