T20 World Cup 2024: Naveen Ul Haq shares hilarious meme on Gulbadin Naib; Afghanistan stars react

Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh to qualify for semis and knocked out Australia.

Gulbadin Naib | XGulbadin Naib is as much talked about as Afghanistan’s epic victory over Bangladesh which sent the team into the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs via the DLS method to confirm their spot in the final four.

Gulbadin Naib's time-wasting tactics caught the attention of the cricket world as the all-rounder faking an injury provided comic relief during the tense thriller.

It all started in the 12th over of Bangladesh's chase when Gulbadin Naib collapsed on the ground clutching his hamstring. Afghanistan was up by two runs in the Duckworth Lewis Stern method when rain threatened to disrupt play.

Before the heavens opened, Afghanistan's head coach, Jonathan Trott, was spotted urging the team to slow down to protect the 2-run lead. When Gulbadin Naib saw the signal from the boundary line, he performed a remarkable act that ensured Afghanistan went into the break with an edge.

Naib returned after the break and bowled an over, picking a wicket as well. After Afghanistan successfully defended at a 115-run total, it was Gulbadin who led the post-match celebrations. Gulbadin was seen sprinting across the ground.

Memes about Gulbadin Naib's 'fake hamstring' injury have gone viral since Tuesday morning. Even Naib’s teammate Naveen Ul Haq decided to post one viral meme on his Instagram account.

The caption read: “Sorry @gulbadin.naib but had to post this

However, not only did Naib comment on the hilarious meme, but other Afghanistan stars like captain Rashid Khan, Ibrahim Zadran, and Mohammad Nabi reacted with laughing emojis.
