Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag exposed the prevalent hypocrisy and bias in Pakistan cricket in the aftermath of their embarrassing exit in the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan was knocked out of the tournament after they lost to the USA and India and when the Ireland v USA game in Florida got washed out. This was the first time Pakistan failed to qualify for the second round of the T20 World Cup.

Sehwag pointed out two cricketers Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir and said that while these two criticized and slammed Pakistan cricket on TV and social media, the duo has done nothing once they became a part of the system.

Riaz, a former Pakistan pacer, was in November last year appointed the head of the selection committee by the Pakistan Cricket Board. This also marked the return of Mohammad Amir to the Pakistan team, four years after he retired from international cricket.

"Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir, these are two names who criticized the Pakistan team on the same TV channel, giving their comments...Today, one of them is a selector (Riaz) and one is in the playing eleven (Amir),” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

"So, the same persons who were criticizing (Pakistan cricket), if today they have power, became the selector, what have they done first up? 'Mohammad Amir was with me, let's select him'. It's like if Ajit Agarkar is chairman (of BCCI selection committee) today, he will say 'come Viru, come Zak (Zaheer Khan)', I will facilitate your comeback'," Sehwag added.

While not mincing his words on the biased attitude of Pakistan selectors, Sehwag advised them to "not do favors".

"You have become a selector, you have to look at the future. You have a job, make the right use of it, and don't do favors. That hard step selectors will have to take," said Sehwag.
