Pakistan | GettyAfter completing an abysmal campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan team will return home sans six players including Babar Azam. Pakistan failed to qualify for the Super 8s stage of the tournament.

Pakistan's terrible showing in Group A of the T20 World Cup came to an end on Sunday, when they overcame Ireland by three wickets in their final match.

Before beating Canada by seven wickets, they were defeated by arch-rivals India and co-hosts the United States.

Pakistan finished third in their group and missed out on a Super Eight ticket, whereas India and the United States secured their spots by finishing first and second, respectively, despite having four points in as many games.

While the Pakistan team is slated to return home on June 19 via Dubai, reports have indicated that six players- including captain Babar, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, and Mohammad Amir won’t go back as they have planned to spend time with their family and friends.

According to The Express Tribune, the six players, like the rest of the team, will not arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday. The players named above plan to visit London to spend time with their friends and family. Some are also considering joining UK local leagues.

Assistant coach Azhar Mahmood and head coach Gary Kirsten will return to their separate residences in the meantime. According to the report, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed the coaching staff to return home because they have no upcoming engagements.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a two-Test series at home against Bangladesh in August and the team will tour England in October.
