India defeated Pakistan by six runs after posting a paltry 119 on the board.

Pakistan failed to chase the target of 120 against India | GettyFormer India all-rounder Irfan Pathan never misses a chance to troll the Pakistan fans. On Sunday (June 9), Rohit Sharma’s men gave him another opportunity to tease the cricket fans across the border as they defeated the arch-rivals by six runs in a T20 World Cup 2024 match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

Asked to bat first, India suffered a mid-innings collapse on a tricky two-paced pitch, resulting in a disappointing total of 119 all-out in 19 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was the top scorer with 42 off 31 balls.

In reply, the Men in Green were cruising at one stage, needing just 48 runs from as many balls with eight wickets in hand. However, the Indian pace battery, led by Jasprit Bumrah (3-14) and Hardik Pandya (2-24), staged a remarkable comeback and restricted Pakistan to 113/7 in 20 overs.

After the game, Pathan rubbed salt into the wound of Pakistani fans by sharing a dance video on his Instagram account.

“What a game and what a win by team India vs Pakistan,” Pathan captioned the video.

Irfan Pathan also posted a savage tweet to roast the Pakistan fans. He wrote on X: “Jitne bhi padosi Bakwas Kar rahe the ab Batana SUNDAY kesa Raha??”

This was Pakistan’s second successive defeat in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side currently occupies fourth place in the Group A points table after losing to the USA and India, making their chances of reaching the Super 8 slim.

Pakistan’s next match is scheduled against Canada at the same venue on Tuesday (June 11).
