Rinku Singh revealed that he was upset when he missed out on the 15-member Indian team squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be played in the USA and the West Indies and will begin on June 1.

While Rinku Singh has been named as a traveling reserve in the Indian contingent, his missing out on the main squad caused quite an uproar on social media amongst fans and experts alike.

Rinku Singh had done well for India, scoring 356 runs in 11 innings for India at a staggering strike rate of 176.24. He even helped India win a few important games as well. However, the selection committee chose Shivam Dube over Rinku since the CSK player performed better in the IPL on an individual basis. Meanwhile, Rinku hoisted the IPL trophy with KKR in the end.

"Yes, anyone feels a little bad if he is not selected despite good performance. However, this time I could not get selected due to the team combination. It is okay, one should not think too much about things that are not in one's hands. Yes, I was a little upset in the beginning. Whatever happened is fine. Whatever happens, happens for good," Rinku Singh told Dainik Jagran.

The young batter also spoke with India captain Rohit Sharma following the squad selection during a training session ahead of the IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

He revealed that Rohit encouraged him not to worry about the snub because another T20 World Cup would be held in the next two years.

"Rohit Bhaiya did not say anything special. He only said that just keep working hard. There is a World Cup again after two years. There is no need to worry too much. This is what he said to me. The whole world has seen how good his captaincy is. If I talk about myself, I have done only one tour with him so far. I have not even talked to him much. He supports the youth a lot. He only wants the youth to do well and he always says that play, do well," Rinku added.
