T20 World Cup 2022: WATCH – Rohit Sharma nearly reduced to tears after India’s 10-wicket defeat in semis

Team India were totally outplayed in the second semi-final against England.

Rohit Sharma | ScreengrabTeam India’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on Thursday (November 10) came to an end with a 10-wicket thrashing at the hands of England in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval.

Asked to bat first, the Men in Blue posted 168/6 in their 20 overs on the back of half-centuries from Hardik Pandya (63 off 33 balls) and Virat Kohli (50 off 40 balls).

In reply, England openers Alex Hales and Jos Buttler made light work of India’s total with scintillating batting display. They took their team over the line with four overs to spare.

While Hales remained unbeaten on 86 off 47 balls (4 fours and 7 sixes), Buttler finished with 80 not out off 49 balls (9 fours and 3 sixes).

After the loss, India skipper Rohit Sharma failed to contain his emotions. Cameras caught him nearly breaking down in tears while sitting in the dugout.

India head coach Rahul Dravid, who was sitting alongside Rohit, consoled the Indian captain by patting him on his back.

Rohit Sharma failed to step up to the plate in the semi-final for India, scoring 27 off 28 balls. Earlier in the Super 12 round, he registered scores of 4, 53, 15, 2, and 15.
