Pakistan booked its spot in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 after a clinical performance in the first semi-final against New Zealand in Sydney, winning by 7 wickets on Wednesday (November 9).
Batting first after winning the toss, New Zealand managed just 152/4 in 20 overs with Daryl Mitchell (53*) and Kane Williamson (46) being the main scorers. Shaheen Afridi picked 2/24 for Pakistan.
In reply, Pakistani openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan came out in attacking mode and added 105 runs in 12.4 overs with Babar making 53 and Rizwan making 57 runs. Pakistan won in the final over with Mohammad Haris contributing 30 runs, by 7 wickets.
After Pakistan's stunning win over New Zealand, former India cricketer Amit Mishra tweeted, "Another upset in this world cup.. well played Pakistan. Better luck next time New Zealand."
