Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was left in awe of Virat Kohli’s stats in T20Is, as the Indian star continues to smash records in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
The right-hander has so far scored three fifties in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh to help Team India clinch three matches so far.
He is currently the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup 2022, with 220 runs in 4 matches at a strike rate of 144. On Wednesday (November 2), Kohli became the highest run-scorer in the history of T20 World Cups, surpassing Mahela Jayawardena’s total of 1,016 runs.
Kohli now has 1065 runs to his name in the T20 World Cups, and Shane Watson has termed his statistics as "super freakish." N
otably, Kohli has so far amassed 3932 runs in T20I cricket at an average of 53 with the help of one century and 36 fifties.
Shane Watson said on Star Sports: “Over 1000 runs in T20 World Cups at an average of over 80, I am not able to get my head around this. T20 cricket is a high-risk game, high-risk batting, and to think that he can do it at the biggest tournament, averaging so much and winning so many games for his country.”
The Aussie signed off by saying, “He is a freak and those statistics are super freakish. It’s incredible that you can bat in such a high-risk format and score consistently. It’s ridiculous.”
India will face Zimbabwe in their last Group 2 Super 12s encounter on November 6 in Melbourne.
