Virat Kohli is in sublime form with the bat in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, and on Wednesday (November 2), the Indian batting superstar scripted history by becoming the highest run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cups, overtaking Mahela Jayawardena’s record.
The dashing right-hander achieved the feat during the Super 12 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 between India and Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.
In the must-win match for India, Kohli 64* from 44 balls to help the Men in Blue beat Bangladesh by 5 runs to keep their T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals hopes alive in Adelaide.
During the course of his brilliant knock, Kohli became the highest run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup. The former Indian skipper now has 1065 runs to his name from 23 innings in the tournament, surpassing Jayawardena’s tally of 1016 runs from 31 innings.
Kohli is also currently the leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, where he has so far amassed 220 runs in four matches.
