India captain Rohit Sharma got a DRS call correct after being convinced to take it by keeper Dinesh Karthik to dismiss the dangerous Rilee Russouw as India clashed with South Africa in an important match of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Perth on October 30.

India batted first after Rohit Sharma won the toss and posted 133/9 as Lungi Ngidi rattled the top order with 4/29 in 4 overs. Suryakumar Yadav saved face for India with 68 off 39 balls while Wayne Parnell also took three wickets.

In reply, Arshdeep Singh rattled the South African top order as first he got Quinton de Kock caught with a beautiful outswinger in slips by KL Rahul. Then he bowled an inswinger to Rilee Russouw who tried to hit it towards the leg side.

Despite a huge appeal, the on-field umpire gave it not out and Arshdeep felt the ball was going down the leg side. But Dinesh Karthik managed to convince captain Rohit Sharma to go for DRS with 7 seconds remaining on the clock.

The replays showed no inside edge and the ball was hitting within stumps and it was going to hit the stumps, giving India a huge wicket as Russouw was coming off a century against Bangladesh. While the Indian players rejoiced, Virat Kohli’s reaction to the same was something to savor.
