The big ticket T20 World Cup 2022 match between India and Pakistan got underway at the MCG on October 23. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first.
This was done to take advantage of the overcast conditions and whatever juice was there in the MCG pitch and his bowlers, especially Arshdeep Singh proved him correct.
While Bhuvneshwar Kumar showed that there was a swing at offer in the first over itself, it was left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who struck two crucial blows in the two overs he bowled to peg Pakistan back.
Making his T20 World Cup debut, Arshdeep struck on the first ball he bowled, as he trapped Babar Azam in front of the wickets and send him back LBW after the DRS review came in India’s favor for a first-ball duck.
Then on the last ball of his second over, he got Mohammad Rizwan out with a brilliant short delivery. The Pakistani batter-keeper tried to hook Arshdeep’s short ball, but only manage to top edge towards fine leg, where Bhuvneshwar Kumar took an easy catch to leave Pakistan 15/2 in 4 overs.
Here are the two wickets:
The cricket fraternity was all praises for the young pacer who outfoxed the no.1 and no.3 ranked T20I batters in the world and who have made records in the last 2-3 years while opening for Pakistan.
