T20 World Cup 2022: WATCH – Shaheen Afridi wreaks havoc with new ball in the warm-up match against Afghanistan

Shaheen dismissed the Afghanistan openers with a couple of ferocious deliveries.

Shaheen Afridi | GettyThe way he has been nailing the yorkers and bowling in the right areas, it doesn’t seem that the Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi was away from the game for the past three months.

On Wednesday (October 19), Shaheen put on a show with the ball in Pakistan’s second T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up match against Afghanistan at the Gabba.

The left-arm pacer spit venom with each of his deliveries in the opening spell and eventually returned with the figures of 2 for 29 in his four overs.

Afghanistan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai were his victims in the warm-up fixture. While Shaheen dismissed Gurbaz with a toe-crushing yorker in his very first over, he cleaned up Zazai with a full delivery in his second over.

The yorker from Shaheen was so ferocious that Gurbaz was carried off the field by a substitute as the latter couldn't walk. The broadcasters later confirmed that the Afghanistan opener was taken to hospital for further scans on the injury.

Here’s the video of both dismissals:

Coming to the match, Afghanistan rode on skipper Mohammad Nabi’s 51 not out off 37 balls to post 154/6 on the board.

In reply, Pakistan were on 19/0 after 2.2 overs before rain entered and eventually abandoned the game.
