Pakistan Chief selector Mohammad Wasim is pragmatic about Pakistan's performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. He called India a billion-dollar team and replied to the critics that they had won against Rohit Sharma-led team recently in Asia Cup 2022 as well.

Pakistan announced their 15-member squad on Thursday, September 15 and the selectors were heavily criticized for not addressing the middle-order woes that saw then being bowled out thrice in the Asia Cup 2022 including the final.

Wasim said Pakistan's victories over India in the T20 World Cup last year as well as in the Super 4s clash of the Asia Cup was a sign of their improvement as a unit and that Pakistan was capable of beating India once again.

“India is a billion-dollar team. But we showed last year as well as this year in the Asia Cup that this team is capable of winning and I have complete faith that they will continue to give the happiness of the fans in the World Cup,” he said.

"I think you need to look at the positives too that we have played the semifinals of the last T20 World Cup and the final of the Asia Cup. So to completely discard the team on the basis of a couple of bad performances wouldn't be fair," he added.

Pakistan faces England in a seven-match T20I series at home in their next assignment, followed by a triangular T20I series in New Zealand also featuring Bangladesh.
