Babar Azam's captaincy has come under scrutiny after Pakistan failed to lift the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE, and now he must ensure that the Men in Green perform a lot better in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022, which will get underway in Australia from October 16.

Babar had already had a poor campaign with the bat in the Asia Cup 2022, where the opener could manage only 68 runs in 6 innings, but the Pakistan team was doing great until the Super Fours match against Sri Lanka, which they lost, as well as the final, to the Islanders in Dubai.

Well, as everybody is just talking about Babar’s future as captain and his form with the bat, the former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria claimed that the stylish batter could lose his captaincy if the Men in Green fail to perform well in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel:Babar Azam is out of form. Several questions have also been raised about his captaincy. I think this will be his last chance as captain. He will be under tremendous pressure because if this team doesn't do well, it will lead to his exit as captain.”

He added, “Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam's strike rates at the top are a concern. They haven't been able to utilize the field restrictions early on and have failed to set up a platform for the other batters. Babar can't just think about his own batting but should keep the team at the forefront.”

Suggesting Babar drop himself down in the batting order, Kaneria said: “He must understand that if he isn't able to score as an opener, then some other player should replace him at that position. He can drop himself down to the No. 3 position. They can try this out against England as Rizwan has been rested for those matches.”

The former spinner also said that Azam needs to get the selection right in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Kaneria signed off by saying, “He is undoubtedly a great player. However, I don't feel that he has backed the right team.”
