Australia batter David Warner played a crucial innings for his team in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final against Pakistan on Thursday (November 11). He smashed 49 runs off 30 deliveries as Australia chased down 177 runs with 5 wickets in hand and 6 balls left.

Warner's knock included 3 sixes and one of them came off a very bizarre delivery. He hit Mohammad Hafeez for a huge six after the ball bounced twice before reaching him.

India's ex-cricketer Gautam Gambhir questioned Warner's sportsmanship for going after the delivery which didn't come out well off Hafeez's hands. He also targetted former Australia cricketer Shane Warne, who had called R Ashwin's altercation with Eoin Morgan disgraceful during the IPL.

"Shane Warne comments and tweets about everything. Even Ricky Ponting makes big claims about the spirit of the game. What have they got to say about this?", Gambhir asked during a post-match show on Star Sports.

"When Ashwin does the Mankad, they came up with big comments. Today, what has Shane Warne got to say about David Warner? It's easy to criticize someone but extremely difficult to criticize your own players," he added.

Gambhir also posted a tweet after the match and called it a pathetic display of sportsmanship by Warner. "What an absolutely pathetic display of the spirit of the game by Warner! #Shameful What say @ashwinravi99?", the tweet read.

Ashwin, who was also tagged in the tweet, explained Gambhir's take and replied, "His point is that if this is right, that was right. If that was wrong, this is wrong too. Fair assessment?  @plalor".
