Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Team India squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand, starting on November 25 in Kanpur.

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Mohammad Shami, Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested from both the Test matches, while captain Virat Kohli will join and lead the team for the second Test in Mumbai. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane will lead the side in his absence at Kanpur. Cheteshwar Pujara will be his deputy.

Hanuma Vihari misses out in the squad, but no reason has been provided for his absence.

Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Jayant Yadav, Kona Srikar Bharat and Prasidh Krishna are the players who have taken the places of the rested seniors. KL Rahul is likely to open the innings with Mayank Agarwal as Shubman and Shreyas compete for the middle order spot.

The bowling unit has a familiar look with R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Akshar Patel heading the spin attack and pacers Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma likely to be in fray for the playing XI spots.
