West Indies' disappointing campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 ended with another defeat as Australia beat them by 8 wickets at Abu Dhabi on Saturday, November 6.
It was a day of emotions for the Caribbean side with Dwayne Bravo playing his last international match and Chris Gayle also giving indications of retiring from international cricket.
After getting dismissed for a brisk 15, Gayle, wearing his sunglasses, raised his bat to a loud applause by the fans and his teammates who welcomed him back near the boundary rope. The 'Universe Boss' had a disappointing tournament with the bat but he did not lose his sense of humour.

Getting a chance to bowl in the closing stages of the game, Gayle almost had David Warner's wicket but Nicholas Pooran missed the stumping, and then the 42-year-old struck by getting the wicket of Mitchell Marsh who was trying to score the winning runs for his team.
Erupting in joy, Gayle ran harder than he has in some time to hug Marsh and celebrated his wicket with the man he had just dismissed. It was a bizarre scene but summed up how the great man played his cricket in the last two decades.

Gayle is yet to confirm retirement officially but whenever he chooses to, his career will go down in history as among the finest across all formats.
No one has scored more T20 runs and centuries than Gayle, and he is one of just two batters along with Virender Sehwag to score two Test triple hundreds and one ODI double hundred.
