T20 World Cup 2021: Cricket fraternity reacts as England get closer to semi-final spot with 26-run win over Sri Lanka

England came closer to qualifying for the T20 World Cup semi-final.

Jos Buttler earned the Player-of-the-Match award | GettyEngland registered their fourth successive victory in the ongoing T20 World Cup as they defeated Sri Lanka by runs at Sharjah on Monday (November 1).

Asked to bat first, England piled up 163/4 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 101 off 67 balls (6 fours and 6 sixes). Skipper Eoin Morgan also played a handy knock of 36-ball 40.

Wanindu Hasaranga was the stand-out bowler for Sri Lanka, claiming three wickets by conceding 21 runs in his four overs.

Defending the total, England bundled out Sri Lanka for 137 in 19 overs. Adil Rashid (2-19), Moeen Ali (2-15), and Chris Jordan (2-24) starred with the ball, claiming two wickets each.

Hasaranga shined with the bat for Sri Lanka as well, scoring 34 off 21 balls. Besides him, no one from the Sri Lankan line-up managed to touch the 3-run mark.

With this victory, England came closer to securing their place in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Cricket experts on Twitter lauded Eoin Morgan and company for their another impressive victory.
