Former Indian all-rounder and commentator Irfan Pathan believes that the time is running out for the Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team after their back-to-back defeats in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Pathan feels Team India must get together and perform a few miracles to ensure a spot in the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021, as Pakistan and England have already made their case strong for the semi-finals by winning all their Super 12 stage games so far in the UAE.
His comments came after India’s 8-wicket loss to New Zealand in their second game in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday (October 31) in Dubai, UAE.
However, Pathan lauded New Zealand for their brilliant comeback in the tournament against India on the back of stunning efforts of Trent Boult (3/2), Ish Sodhi (2/17) and Daryl Mitchell smashed (49 off 35) in Dubai on Sunday.

Pathan wrote on Twitter: “Well done NZ you were too good. And for team India, they need to get together and perform miracles. Time is running out. #indvsnz.”
Meanwhile, India had made two changes, bringing in Shardul Thakur and Ishan Kishan for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Suryakumar Yadav respectively against New Zealand. They made a drastic change, sending Rohit Sharma at number three while Ishan came out to open alongside KL Rahul, which backfired on the side.
Well, Pathan wasn’t impressed by the changes made by India for the crucial game against New Zealand, saying nobody can get desired results with changes in the playing XI just after one game.
He tweeted, “In any big tournament you can’t change the playing 11 in just one game and get desired results. Players need stability And I’m surprised this is happening with some big names taking decisions.”
Noteworthy, India will next take on Afghanistan on Wednesday, November 3 in Abu Dhabi.
