T20 World Cup 2021: "His achievement & sacrifices unmatched," Rashid Khan's heartfelt message for Asghar Afghan

Following the win against Namibia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 clash, premier Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan penned down an emotional message for former skipper Asghar Afghan. 

Asghar Afghan announced his retirement from international cricket midway through the T20 World Cup 2021 and played his last match against Namibia yesterday (31st October) and played a crucial knock of 33 runs and helped his team post a total of 160 runs on the board, which the Mohammad Nabi-led defended to win the match by 62 runs.

After the match, Afghanistan spinner, Rashid Khan took to his official Twitter account and posted a heartfelt message for Asghar Afghan on his retirement. 

The leg-spinner said that Afghan has been a mentor to all the youngsters on the side including him and his achievement and sacrifices are unmatched. He added that the former skipper will be 'dearly' missed.

"Its pretty hard to accept legendary @MAsgharAfghan's retirement. He has been a mentor to me & all the youngsters in the side. I am short of words to thank him for his exemplary service to @ACBofficials. His achievement &sacrifices r unmatched. U will b dearly missed bro #respect," Rashid Khan Tweeted. 

Asghar Afghan captained his side when Afghanistan played their first Test match against India in 2018. He led his country to two wins and two defeats each in the longest format of the game. 

Apart from this, he also led Afghanistan to 34 ODIs and 42 T20I wins during his captaincy tenure and also holds the record for most T20I wins as skipper.
