T20 World Cup 2021: Bangladesh and Scotland qualify for Super 12s after thrashing PNG and Oman

Bangladesh joins Aus, Eng, SA and WI in Grp 1 of Super 12s while Scotland joins Ind, Pak, NZ and Afg in Grp 2.

Bangladesh posted 181/7 with Shakib Al Hasan making 46, skipper Mahmudullah making 50, while Liton Das (29) and Afif Hossain (21) contributing as well. For PNG, Kabua Morea, Damien Ravu, and Assad Vala picked two wickets each.

In reply, only keeper Kiplin Doriga managed 46 as Papua New Guinea folded for 97 runs. Shakib Al Hasan picked 4/9 and was also picked the Player of the Match for his all-around performance. Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed picked two wickets apiece also.

Bangladesh won the match by 84 runs and qualified for the Super 12s round. They will now join Australia, West Indies, England, and South Africa in group 1 of Super 12s. They will be joined by the topper from Group A, which is likely to be Sri Lanka.

Some brilliant bowling from Scotland with Josh Davey picking 3/25 and two wickets apiece from Safyaan Sharif and Michael Leask kept Oman to 122 runs in 20 overs. Aqib Ilyas (37), Captain Zeeshan Maqsood (34), and Mohammad Nadeem (25) were the only ones to get into double-digits for the home side.

In reply, Scottish captain Kyle Coetzer (41), Richie Berrington (31*), and Matthew Cross (26*) ensured that their side made it into the Super 12s comfortably as they reached the target in 17 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. This 8 wicket win has taken Scotland into Group 2 of the Super 12s where they join India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.

These teams will be joined by the second-ranked team from Group A, most likely to be Ireland or Namibia.
