T20 World Cup 2021: Cricket fraternity reacts as Team India thrash Australia by 8 wickets in 2nd warm-up game

India chased down Australia's 152/5 with 13 balls to spare.

Rohit Sharma slammed 60* in the chase | GettyTeam India registered a comprehensive 8-wicket victory over Australia in their second warm-up fixture at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Wednesday (October 20).

Invited to bat first, Australia posted 152/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Steve Smith was the top scorer with 48-ball 57 while Marcus Stoinis (41* off 25 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (37 off 28 balls) made notable contributions with the bat.

For India, the spin troika of R Ashwin (2-8), Rahul Chahar (1-17) and Ravindra Jadeja (1-35) did a fine job with the ball, claiming four wickets between them. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who struggled in the warm-up match against England, also returned with impressive figures of 1-27 in his four overs.

Chasing the target, the Men in Blue got over the line with 13 balls to spare. Stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma slammed 60 off 41 balls before retiring out while KL Rahul continued his great form and scored 31-ball 39 at the top. In the end, Suryakumar Yadav (38* off 27) and Hardik Pandya (14* off 8) finished off the chase.

Australia managed to take only one Indian wicket and it was left-arm spinner Ashton Agar who dismissed Rahul.

For their impressive outing in the warm-up clash, Indian cricket team received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
