T20 World Cup 2021: Harshal Patel's inclusion in India squad not a bad idea - Harsha Bhogle

BCCI is eligible to make changes in India's T20 World Cup squad till October 10.

Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle believes that the inclusion of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel in the Team India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 can be a good idea, considering the current nature of the UAE pitches.

Patel is in stunning form for the RCB in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), taking 29 wickets in 13 matches so far. The Haryana pacer also broke Jasprit Bumrah's record and set the record for most wickets by an Indian bowler in a single edition of the IPL.

The 30-year-old bowler, who is currently the Purple Cap holder, has been very effective on the UAE pitches and Bhogle feels Harshal’s inclusion in India's 15-man T20 World Cup squad might not be a bad idea, since BCCI can make changes to the national squad till October 10 for the showpiece event.

Even recently, former BCCI selection committee chief MSK Prasad said the Indian team is a pacer short for the T20 World Cup 2021.

With Hardik Pandya yet to resume bowling, Harshal is already showing what he can do on the UAE pitches and the RCB star will be certainly to one to be there if BCCI makes any changes to the squad for the T20 World Cup, starting on October 17.

Bhogle wrote on Twitter on Wednesday: “If the pitches at the #ICCT20WorldCup2021 are going to be similar to these, picking Harshal Patel might not be a bad idea. (Changes allowed till October 10!). A horses-for-courses practical selection. What do you guys think?”
