Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni spoke about the uncertainties around his stint with the franchise in the future. Dhoni was asked whether he will continue to play for CSK or not during the toss ahead of the clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2021 on Thursday (October 7).

Dhoni had recently said that fans will get to bid goodbye to him in a farewell match at Chepauk. But his latest comment has left everyone guessing about his future move, like always.

The 40-year-old said fans can see him in yellow next season, but with mega-auction and two new IPL teams coming up, anything can happen. He also mentioned that they aren't currently aware of the new retention policy.

"Well, you can see me in yellow next year. But whether I will be playing for CSK? There are a lot of uncertainties around it for the simple reason that we have two new teams coming up.

"We don't know the retention policy. We don't know how many foreigners, Indian players we can retain, the money cap that every player will be cutting from the kitty. So there are a lot of uncertainties," he said during the toss.

Dhoni further added that unless the retention rules are clear, it will be tough to comment on his future with CSK. "Unless the rules are in place you can't really decide that. So we will wait for it to happen and hopefully, it will be good for everyone," he said.

CSK have made it to the playoffs in the ongoing IPL season. They had finished at number 7 on the points table last year but the Dhoni-led side made a strong comeback in IPL 2021.
