Oman Cricket Association has invited the Ranji Trophy giants Mumbai cricket team for white-ball tour consisting of three one-dayers and three T20s in Muscat ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
Oman's Chief Development Officer, Duleep Mendis has sent the invitation to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) inviting their cricket team to Muscat to give proper game time to Oman before they play the T20 World Cup qualifiers.
“On behalf of Oman Cricket, we would like to invite the Mumbai Cricket team to play matches against Oman's national cricket team.”
“As we understand that both teams are currently preparing for the upcoming season, it will be an excellent opportunity for the players to get some quality practice just before the commencement of the season,” Mendis wrote in his letter to MCA which is in possession of ANI.
While the invite is yet to be accepted, a source within the Mumbai Cricket Association revealed that the final details of the tour are yet to be worked out but it is most likely that MCA will be accepting this invitation.
“We have been invited for the tour between August 19-September 3. The details of the tour to Oman are still being worked out,” the source pointed.
According to the plan sent out by Oman Cricket, the Mumbai team will be leaving for Muscat on August 19 and after completing the necessary quarantine on August 21, the tourists will be allowed to train from August 21.
The three T20s between Oman and Mumbai will be played on 22, 24 and 26 August respectively followed by a three-match one-day series with three matches to be played on August 29, 31, and September 2.
