Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal feels that the Pakistan team will have an advantage in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

BCCI recently confirmed that ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is set to commence from October 17 and will culminate with the final on November 14 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The T20 World Cup 2021 was originally supposed to be played in India but it is now shifted to the UAE due to the uncertainty over the COVID-19 situation in the country.

In an interaction with the YouTube channel 'My Master Cricket Coach, Kamran Akmal said that having played international cricket for 9 to 10 years in UAE, Pakistan should have the advantage in the T20 World Cup.

“Pakistan should have the advantage in the T20 World Cup. We’ve played international cricket for 9 to 10 years in the UAE. That makes Pakistan the most experienced side under the conditions,” Kamran Akmal said.

Akmal said that apart from India and Pakistan players from other countries will also benefit from going into the T20 World Cup as they’ve played cricket in IPL and PSL.

“Not only players from India and Pakistan but other countries will also benefit going into the T20 World Cup since a lot of them play in both PSL and IPL."

He added that with conditions favoring spin in UAE, Afghanistan can prove to a dangerous side.

“Given the conditions in the UAE, Afghanistan can also prove to be a dangerous side, looking at the players that they have. So, it is difficult to pick a favorite for the T20 World Cup,” he said.

UAE however, over the last couple of years has been the base for several T20 tournaments. The remainder of the PSL 2021 was recently conducted in Abu Dhabi while the second phase of the IPL 2021 is going to be held in September.
