Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir had boldly claimed that the Indian team will not qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 tournament. Amir was confident in his assessment that he had made on a Pakistani TV show, stating that India will not be one of the final four teams.
Earlier in the tournament, Amir had claimed that while Pakistan might or might not qualify, India would definitely not reach the top four.
“Pakistan will qualify. Dekho, Pakistan kare na kare, India naaaa (It doesn't matter if Pakistan qualifies or not, India will not),” he said on Haarna Mana Hai, leaving even the show’s anchor surprised.
“Pakistan qualify kare na kare, per India naaaa.

India had begun their Super 8s with a huge 76-run loss to South Africa. But they made a big comeback by defeating Zimbabwe by 72 runs and had to defeat the West Indies to qualify for the semis.
However, the Indian team proved Mohammad Amir wrong in a big way. India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl first. Roston Chase (40) and Shai Hope (32) added 68 runs for the first wicket. Shimron Hetmyer made a quick 27 before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah.
A late unbeaten 76-run stand between Rovman Powell (34*) and Jason Holder (37*) powered West Indies to 195/4, with Bumrah finishing as India’s best bowler with 2/36.
In the chase, India lost Abhishek Sharma (10) and Ishan Kishan (10) early, but Sanju Samson anchored the innings. He stitched key partnerships with Suryakumar Yadav (18), Tilak Varma (27), and Hardik Pandya (17) to keep India on course. Samson remained unbeaten on 97 off 50 balls, guiding India to a five-wicket win in 19.2 overs. Holder and Shamar Joseph picked up two wickets each for the West Indies.
Thanks to this win, India will now face England in semi-final 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5.
With this win, Mohammad Amir’s prediction of India not qualifying for the semis proved to be wrong, and the netizens couldn’t stop themselves from mocking the ex-Pakistani pacer on social media.

???????????? https://t.co/pOuFqF0046
