Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out the mistakes made by India captain Rohit Sharma in the recent two-match Test series in South Africa.

Manjrekar stressed the importance of not losing the crucial moments in a match, saying that such lapses can lead the team to lose the game.

The former opened up about those errors made by Rohit in both Test matches and highlighted how these mistakes proved costly for the Indian cricket team, especially in the outcome of the first Test in Centurion.

Notably, Team India suffered an innings and 32-run defeat in the first Test in Centurion, but they made a strong comeback and won the second Test by 7 wickets to level the series against South Africa.

Sanjay Manjrekar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo: “In Test cricket if you lose moments, you lose the game. Rohit made mistakes in both Tests and while it cost us massively in the first game, thankfully Siraj had given allowance for the second Test. Siraj bowling just one over when Markram was scoring and the lead swelled to 60 was a mistake.”

Manjrekar further called Rohit an "old-school" player in the Test cricket, as he was talking about his future in the longest format of the game.

He noted, “Rohit Sharma is still among the last of the old-school Test batters. Only he can tell us how much Test cricket he wants to play. I think if he wants to extend his Test career, there will be no competition.”

He signed off by saying, “Virat Kohli I feel will play as long as possible and thankfully for us. This tour in tough conditions just the difference between him and the next best Test batter India has at least until Rishabh Pant is back.”
