Apart from being a great batter, Virat Kohli is also a brilliant thinker of the game. He has got a shrewd cricketing brain and the fans once again got a glimpse of it on Wednesday (January 3).
On Day 1 of the Cape Town Test against South Africa, Kohli instructed Mohammed Siraj to bowl an outswinger, which resulted in the dismissal of Marco Jansen and gave the Indian pacer his third five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket.
The incident took place in the 16th over of South Africa’s first innings when Marco Jansen was facing Siraj on the penultimate delivery.
Kohli, who was stationed at first slip, instructed the Siraj to bowl a delivery shaping away from the batter and make him nick it behind. As it turned, the right-arm quick followed his advice and reaped the reward.
Jansen nicked the ball exactly as planned by the Kohli-Siraj duo and KL Rahul made no mistake in completing an easy catch behind the stumps.
