Sanjay Manjrekar stated that Rohit Sharma's go-to shot in white-ball cricket has been causing his downfall in Test cricket after the Indian skipper caught out for just 5 runs on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa on December 26.

Rohit was dismissed while playing the pull shot in the first innings of the ongoing first Test at the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion on Tuesday.

Kagiso Rabada dismissed Rohit for the 13th time in international cricket, as the Proteas pacer bowled a short delivery, and the Indian skipper played his favorite shot at the deep fine leg, where Nandre Burger took an easy catch.

Manjrekar, speaking during lunch on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test, pointed out that Rohit's favorite shot in white-ball cricket has been a vulnerability for him in Test cricket. The senior opener scored five runs off 14 deliveries before falling into the trap of Rabada in the 5th over.

Sanjay Manjrekar said, “It's interesting that his go to shot, the one shot that he plays in white-ball cricket that puts the opposition on the back foot, has been Rohit Sharma's nemesis in test cricket. In the last two years, he's been out seven times playing the pull shot. But the bowler deserves this as it was a great delivery.”

Notably, Rohit’s dismissal led to a flurry of wickets, as Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 17, Shubman Gill for 2, and Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer were also out for 38 and 31, respectively, in Centurion, leaving India 121/6 at one point of time.
