Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw made their ODI debuts for Team India in the first ODI against New Zealand at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. This was after 4 years when the Men in Blue fielded two new openers, as KL Rahul and Karun Nair made their debuts against Zimbabwe.
Agarwal made 32 and Shaw made 20, as the duo added 50 runs for the first wicket. India made 347 runs with Kohli making 51 and Rahul making 88*, while Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden ODI century.
NZ v IND 2020: Ross Taylor’s 109* takes NZ to 4-wicket win chasing 348 in the 1st ODI in Hamilton
However, the total proved to be less, as Ross Taylor’s 109* and fifties from Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham, took the home side to a four-wicket victory.
Meanwhile, before the start of the game, Yuzvendra Chahal met with the two debutants and took off their India ODI caps, only to present them back, making it look like that he had presented them with those caps.
He shared the video on his Instagram post and captioned it, “So proud of you brothers ????????????”
