The Karnataka batsman reached no.2 spot in the ranking after he helped his side rout Black Caps 5-0, the first time it has happened in the format. Rahul scored 224 runs, including two fifties and a 40-plus score, in the five-match series besides keeping wickets. He has also played a big role, hitting 10 runs in 3 balls in the super over victory in the fourth T20I.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Babar Azam maintained pole position while India vice-captain Rohit Sharma entered the top-10 of the batsmen rankings. Skipper Virat Kohli remained in ninth position. Shreyas Iyer (up 63 places to 55th) and Manish Pandey (up 12 places to 58th) are the other Indians who gained spots in the latest rankings.
In the bowlers’ rankings, Jasprit Bumrah reached the 11th spot, while Yuzvendra Chahal has advanced 10 places to 30th and Shardul Thakur's eight wickets in the series have lifted him 34 places to 57th position.
