He had hurt his right calf and tried to continue batting, but despite getting treatment, he wasn’t able to move as well as he wanted to and went off the ground. He also didn’t manage to take the field when New Zealand began their chase and KL Rahul captained the side in his stead.

After the match, Rahul was asked about Rohit’s injury and he provided an update. "Rohit's alright, unfortunate injury, hopefully, he should be fine in a couple of days,” Rahul said. Even BCCI released a statement that read, “Rohit Sharma is being assessed at the moment.

India will begin the three-match ODI series against New Zealand with the first match in Hamilton on February 5.
