Kohli rarely drops a catch and that's what surprised the fans.

Virat Kohli is among the best India fielders | GETTY

Virat Kohli, as much as the gun batsman he is, is an equally gun fielder. He, in fact, put on a show earlier today on the outfield, stopping what was a certain boundary. But even the great Kohli couldn’t help but cover his face in shame when he dropped an absolute sitter to hand Ross Taylor a life.

He has set a high standard and the reason why he keeps talking about fitness is the difference of a few seconds on the field. It only shows how much importance he gives to fielding. It is one area where no player gets away from criticism.

Well, this time it was Kohli who was in talks for a bad reason. Surprisingly, the Indian captain missed out on an easy opportunity to get Ross Taylor out.

Kohli dropped an easy catch of Taylor and gave him life. He was batting on 11 runs off 15 balls. The Kiwi batsman was trying hard to get quick runs which made him attack the quality pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Unfortunately, Taylor's attempt on the third delivery of 18th over failed as he top-edged an off-cutter. But Kohli's butter finger couldn't grab it. It was a rare drop catch from the skipper.

Virat was so disappointed that he covered his face in shame. Twitter took no time in making it the trending topic of discussion.
