As a result of Dream11 and BCCI ending their association as the prime jersey sponsor of the Indian team, the Indian cricket board and several big-name cricketers like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and more are reportedly set to lose crores of rupees.

Dream11 and BCCI reportedly had to end their association after both the parliament houses passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, impacting the Indian sports industry. Thanks to this bill, all forms of games played with money, and promoting e-sports and online social gaming are now banned.

If the BCCI is unable to secure a new sponsor before the Asia Cup, which starts on September 9, the Indian team will play the tournament without a lead sponsor.

Dream11 has contracts with Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal.

Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, Sourav Ganguly, and India Test captain Shubman Gill are all signed with My11 Circle. MS Dhoni promotes Winzo, while Virat Kohli is sponsored by the MPL.

“Kohli's contract was estimated at around INR 10–12 crore annually, while Rohit Sharma and Dhoni were believed to be in the INR 6–7 crore bracket. For younger or lesser-known players, the figures hover around INR 1 crore. Collectively, Indian cricketers are likely to lose between INR 150–200 crore a year from these terminated contracts, as the latest law bans “advertising and promotion of money games across all forms of media,” Cricbuzz reported.

In addition to Dream11, more sponsorship losses are anticipated for the BCCI. According to the article, My11 Circle contributes Rs 125 crore to the BCCI each year as an associate sponsor of the IPL.

Gaming businesses have also sponsored IPL teams, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
