
The Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has been announced by the BCCI on August 19, 2025. The tournament will be played in India and Sri Lanka under a hybrid model from September 30 to November 2, 2025. The venues include Bengaluru, Guwahati, Vishakhapatnam, Indore, and Colombo for the matches.
Eight teams will be participating in the tournament: India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Pakistan will be playing their matches in Sri Lanka, including the one against India. The Women’s World Cup will be played on a league basis, with each team facing the other once, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals.
The Indian squad sees Harmanpreet Kaur being named the captain of the team, with Smriti Mandhana as his deputy. Veteran players like Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh were automatic picks in the Indian squad. Yastika Bhatia will be the second wicket-keeper in the squad.
Young Pratika Rawal has pipped Shafali Verma for the opener’s slot. Harleen Deol will be helming the middle order with Rodrigues, Richa, and Deepti for company. The spin department is bolstered by Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, Sree Charani and Kranti Goud in the mix.
The fast bowling department will be led by Renuka Singh Thakur, with Arundhati Reddy and Amanjot Kaur assisting her.
