The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi confirmed, on Saturday, that the 2025 Asia Cup will take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to September 28.
Eight countries, including bitter rivals India and Pakistan, will compete in the continental championship, which will be played in the T20 format. The eight participating nations are India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, UAE, and Oman.
A total of 19 matches are expected to be played, with the final set to take place on September 28.
ACC President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the development via a post on X, expressing his excitement about the tournament returning to the UAE.
"I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! A detailed schedule will be out soon," Naqvi wrote on X.
The possible India vs. Pakistan match is still the main focus, even though the fixtures have not yet been confirmed. This is because of the increased political tensions between the two neighbors.
The final schedule draft is presently being worked on by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has been assigned as the host for this edition. The general frame, which runs from the second to the third week of September, will not alter, though there may be some little adjustments.
The schedule issue was brought to the BCCI after the ACC meeting in Dhaka on Thursday, July 24. Before finalizing the itinerary, the BCCI has also advised member countries that a few commercial matters need to be worked out. The BCCI is now anticipated to make an official declaration through the ACC platform.
