Yograj Singh, father of the renowned Yuvraj Singh, made a shocking accusation on Sunday, saying that the BCCI selection committee "destroyed" the careers of seven players following the 2011 ODI World Cup victory and even attempted to fire captain MS Dhoni.

India's 28-year quest for the coveted trophy was ended in 2011 as the home team defeated Sri Lanka in the final at the Wankhede Stadium in the ODI World Cup. However, only three players—Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Dhoni himself—went on to play in the subsequent 50-over World Cup in 2015, signaling the end of an era in Indian cricket.

Yograj blasted the selection committee at the time for dismissing the 2011 World Cup-winning squad so hastily, claiming that the move "destroyed" their careers. These included Yuvraj Singh, Rahul Dravid, and Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of India.

"You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011. You just destroyed the team after the 2011 World Cup. The careers of 7 players were put into the gutter. That is why we were struggling," Yograj said in an interview to InsideSport.

Yograj Singh also aimed his anger at then head of BCCI selectors Mohinder Amarnath. He claimed that Amarnath wanted to sack MS Dhoni as captain after India lost back-to-back Test series in Australia and England in 2011-12.

"We lost 5 series when MS Dhoni was the captain and he was told he would be replaced by Mohinder Amarnath, but that's not the way to do it,” Yograj added.

But then BCCI president N Srinivasan vetoed the decision.

"The Board President did not approve the unanimous decision to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni," Amarnath had told CNN-IBN.
