Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa, in a video on his YouTube channel, slammed a fan for stating that ex-cricketers and failed cricketers harbor hatred towards Virat Kohli. During their two seasons together, in 2009 and 2010, Kohli and Uthappa helped RCB go to the 2009 IPL final. With 614 runs in 14 games, Kohli has been instrumental in RCB's path to the IPL 2025 final.
A supporter of the RCB star said on his YouTube channel that the former players were biased against him; one even called them "failed cricketers." Slamming the fan, Uthappa questioned him about what success meant to him.
Uthappa continued by asserting that he and other former players disagree with Kohli on a few points. He believes that there is nothing wrong with that, though, and that they can live in a society where "we can agree to disagree with each other."
"It's incredible how you stated we're all failed ex-cricketers. I would love to understand your definition of success in life. I have answered this multiple times. I don't think any of us, including me, hate Virat Kohli.
There are certain things we disagree with him about, and I think that is perfectly fine, and we can all exist in a world where we can agree to disagree with each other. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that," Uthappa said on his YouTube channel.
Uthappa won the IPL twice, in 2014 with KKR and again in 2021 with CSK. But when RCB fell to the Deccan Chargers in 2009, he was devastated. Uthappa talked about how the final defeat left him feeling heartbroken and angry for the entire week.
It took him a long time to bounce back from the defeat, according to the former cricket player.
"I was devastated. I was frustrated for a whole week; the less I say, the better. I was absolutely devastated after the 2009 finals. Took me a long time to recover from that one," said Uthappa.
Kohli will be in action for RCB when they take on PBKS in the final of IPL 2025 on June 3 in Ahmedabad.
