Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are due to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 Final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 3).

Ahead of the big game, RCB are sweating over the availability of opening batter Phil Salt, who has been at the forefront of the franchise’s dominance this season.

As per a report, Salt is doubtful for the title clash as he is expecting the birth of his child. The Englishman couldn't be spotted in RCB's training session on the eve of the finale, sparking speculations over his availability for the tournament finale.

According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, Salt might not even be in Ahmedabad for the match against PBKS, with plans being to accompany his partner for the birth of their first child.

However, RCB coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar remained mum on the player's situation in the pre-match presser, understandably wanting to keep the matter secret ahead of the all-important fixture.

It is worth mentioning here that Salt wasn't the only player to miss the practice session as a few other RCB stars also did the same. At present, the situation remains unclear but there is a possibility that the wicketkeeper-batter has already flown home.

In 12 innings for RCB this season, Phil Salt has amassed 387 runs at a strike-rate of 175.90 and an average of 35.18. The numbers alone indicate how important he is for RCB's plans in the final.

With Jacob Bethell already back home for national duty, the Bengaluru-based franchise is expected to face some issues in sorting out the opening combination in case of Salt’s unavailability.

Tim Siefert, signed as a replacement player, and Mayank Agarwal remain the best possible options for the opening slot alongside Virat Kohli if the need arises.
