On Friday, ICC Chairman Jay Shah took to Instagram to show support for India's armed services in the midst of escalating cross-border tension.
Growing security worries have had an impact on the ongoing Indian Premier League. In light of the issue, the BCCI has stopped the IPL for a week. This followed the cancellation of match 58 between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at Dharamshala owing to air raid alerts in Jammu and Pathankot.
In middle of this, Jay Shah posted a story on Instagram, saluting the brave men and women in Indian armed forces and asking the nation to unite in honoring them.
"Our armed forces are our pride, and no words are enough to express their valour and commitment in protecting our motherland and people. We salute our brave men and women in the armed forces who are shielding our nation from terrorism. Let us unite to honour our heroes and build a stronger,r more united India,” Jay Shah wrote.
Shah's statement comes after Pakistan launched a series of aircraft raids on Jammu, Rajasthan, and other military posts near its western border. India's air defense systems successfully stopped the attempted strikes, which included drones and missiles.
These strikes followed Operation Sindoor, an Indian military operation aimed against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan suspected of being responsible for the April slaughter of 26 tourists — 25 Indians and one Nepalese — in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident resulted in widespread blackouts and sirens throughout Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, with authorities advising locals to stay indoors while emergency protocols were implemented.
