The decision to honour the trio was finalized during the Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on April 15.

Rohit, who has led India to two ICC trophies in the last 10 months, will have Divecha Pavilion Level 3 stand to his name.

The Grand Stand Level 4 will belong to the late Wadekar, who led India to maiden Test series victories in the West Indies and England in 1971.

The Grand Stand Level 3 at the Wankhede will be named after Pawar, who is widely deemed as the MCA's 'mentor,'. He had served as the MCA president from 2001 to 2013, and then from 2013 to 2016, during which the association hosted the 2011 World Cup final at the revamped Wankhede Stadium.

Coming to Rohit Sharma, he is regarded as one of the best captains in the modern-day game. He has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and also captained his national team with great success.

Under his leadership, India have won two Asia Cup titles and equal number of ICC trophies – Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit will now join the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar in getting a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium.

Among active international cricketers, only Virat Kohli has been bestowed with this honour. In 2019, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) named a stand after Kohli at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
