Pakistan wicketkeeper Gull Feroza has said that her team is fully aware that they would play their ODI World Cup matches in Asian conditions, just not in India – the designated hosts for the showpiece tournament.

Earlier this year, BCCI had refused to send its team across the border for the ICC Champions Trophy after not getting an approval from the Indian government. As a result, all of India’s matches were held in Dubai and they won the marquee event without losing a match.

A hybrid model was agreed upon that allowed India to play their matches in Dubai. Apart from the Champions Trophy, the hybrid model was also adopted for global events in India till 2027, which means Pakistan will also be able to play their multi-nation tournament matches at a neutral venue.

“We know this much that we will play in Asian conditions, and we are not playing in India. This is clear. Neither are we interested in playing in India," Feroza said while speaking to PakPassion.

“So, wherever it is played – hopefully in Sri Lanka or Dubai – those conditions are similar to the ones you get in Asia. The Qualifiers were at home and the staff prepared tracks accordingly," she added.

Her comments come amidst the political tensions between the two countries over the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The Resistance Front, a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, has claimed responsibility of the dastardly attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists on Tuesday (April 22).

Subsequently, the Indian government took bold steps to disconnect any ties with Pakistan, which include revoking all visas issued to Pakistani nationals. India has also put the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, citing Pakistan's inaction and persistent cross-border terrorism.

Additionally, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has reiterated the board's stance on maintaining strong national sentiment, affirming that India will not participate in any bilateral cricket series with Pakistan moving forward.
