Imran Khan is perhaps the greatest cricketer to play for Pakistan and is also the former Prime Minister of the country. However, currently he is in prison, after being sentenced to 14 years in a corruption case.

The 1992 World Cup-winning Pakistan captain has been in prison since August 2023. He has faced charges in over 100 cases, ranging from leaking state secrets to selling state gifts - all of which he has decried as politically motivated.

Since 1992, the stadium has had the Imran Khan enclosure, one of the VIP stands, as a permanent fixture. There were rumors that Imran Khan’s name was taken down from an enclosure at the newly restored Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

According to speculations, the PCB removed the name of the 1992 World Cup-winning former captain from one of the stadium's enclosures due to the "current political situation".

Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board has denied rumors that Imran Khan’s name was removed from the enclosure.

“No names have been changed or removed on enclosures,” an official of the PCB said without taking any names, adding that the names of all enclosures remain as before.

Pakistan will host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the first ICC event to be played in the country since the 1996 World Cup. The event will begin on February 19 and will feature 8 teams including Pakistan.
