India skipper Rohit Sharma received a heartfelt letter from a 15-year-old fan after his appearance in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir.
The fan, who identified himself as Yathaarrt Chhabria, claimed that Rohit is the main reason behind him watching cricket.
In his Ranji outing after 10 years, Rohit returned with scores of 3 and 28 across two innings. However, the craze to get a glimpse of him was at an all-time high.
While a fan breached security to meet Rohit Sharma on the field, the Indian captain has now received a special message from the young fan.
Chhabria hailed Rohit as the greatest batter of all time while also adding that he could see the Indian star was on the right track and would dominate bowling attacks during the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Chhabria lauded Rohit's leadership and urged him to never retire. He ended his note by saying the Indian skipper would return to his best form soon.
"To my idol, my favourite player and the greatest batsman of all time. I know I will be representing millions of others as I say this, you are the reason I watch this beautiful sport and I am so lucky to be born in an era blessed to watch your elegant batting."
"Form is temporary, class is permanent. It doesn't matter even if you haven't played a big innings recently, I can see that you are on the right track, and you will tear teams apart in the Champions Trophy. Your 3 sixes yesterday were amazing. I had to sit and watch the match while in maths class, but it was worth it."
"Haters will hate, but your leadership is top notch. You are the best character on the field and you have succeeded as both, a player and captain in EVERY SINGLE FORMAT. I've followed you forever and watch every game just for you. Please just never retire, I can't imagine how I'd turn on the TV and feel if i don't see you walking out to open the innings."
"I am a 15-year-old well-spoken and passionate boy. My dream is to be a sports analyst and I have even completed an internship in association with Rajasthan Royals. If you could help me out in any way, please do let me know."
"I love you, Rohit and I know you will return to the best of your abilities very, very soon," read the letter from the fan.
Rohit Sharma will return to action for India during the ODI series against England, starting on February 6 in Nagpur. The three ODIs are seen as a final dress rehearsal for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, slated to be held in Pakistan and UAE from February 19 to March 9.
India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
