India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the England ODI series was announced on Saturday (January 18), with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma taking part in a press conference.

The duo came out to address the media two and a half hours past the scheduled time for the squad announcement. Before the presser began, Rohit was seen discussing something with Agarkar in Hindi, unaware that the microphone was on.

“Mere ko 1 dhed ghanta baithna padega. ye sab bol rahe hai mere ko family-wamily ka," Rohit was overheard saying.

As the video went viral, people started speculating about a “family matter” being discussed. Recently, it was reported that the BCCI had imposed restrictions on family travel for overseas tours in the wake of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy debacle in Australia.

When a reporter asked Rohit about it, the Indian skipper responded with, “Who told you about the rules? Has it come from any official source? Let it come officially first.”

Talking about the Indian squad, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have been included in the line-up for the Champions Trophy.

The same squad will face England in three ODIs in early February, with Harshit Rana added as a backup for Bumrah, who might not be fully fit for the first two matches of the series. The ace pacer’s participation in the third and final ODI is subject to fitness clearance.

Both Bumrah and Kuldeep were dealing with injuries leading up to the squad announcement. While Kuldeep has been recovering from hernia surgery since November, Bumrah picked up a back spasm during the fifth BGT Test against Australia in Sydney earlier this month.
