India captain Rohit Sharma is yet to make himself available for Mumbai for their match against J&K. According to a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official, the selectors are likely to announce the squad on January 20, and would then follow the regular protocol of confirming player availability.
"The selectors are expected to announce the squad on January 20, during which they will follow the due process of checking for the availability of every player. Rohit will also be approached around the time for selection," a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official told PTI.
Rohit Sharma is battling extremely poor form with the bat, as he scored just 31 runs in 5 Test innings in Australia. Earlier he had made 90 odd runs in 6 innings against New Zealand at home.
Rohit was seen batting alongside Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. He is scheduled to start training shortly, but it is unclear whether the Indian captain will play in Mumbai's upcoming Ranji Trophy encounter.
