Jasprit Bumrah, India's pace spearhead, remained at the top of the bowlers' chart with a career-best rating of 908 in the latest ICC Test Rankings, which were revealed on Wednesday.
Bumrah, who created history ahead of the fifth and final Test against Australia by posting the highest-ever ICC Rankings rating for an Indian bowler at 907 points, increased his total by one point after claiming two wickets in the first innings at the SCG.
He did not bowl in the second innings of the SCG owing to a back spasm, which prevented him from adding to his total of 32 wickets in five Tests. Bumrah received Player of the Series for his terrific performance.
Apart from him, Ravindra Jadeja moved to the joint-9th position, which he shared with Australia’s Scott Boland. Boland claimed 10/76 in the Sydney Test and was named Player of the match.
Australia's Pat Cummins climbed to second place in the rankings after taking five wickets in the final match. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada moved up one position to third place, but injured Josh Hazlewood dropped two spots to fourth.
Coming to Test batting rankings, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, after their continued poor show, dropped out of the top 20 of batters’ rankings. Kohli is at 27th rank, and Rohit Sharma is at 42nd spot.
There are two Indians in the top 10 test batters. Yashasvi Jaiswal holds onto his 4th position, while Rishabh Pant, thanks to his blistering 61 in the Sydney Test, moved up three spots to the ninth position.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma extended his rich vein of form, scoring a vital century in the first innings to climb three spots to number six, also achieving a career-best rating of 769.
Ravindra Jadeja also remained the no.1 ranked Test all-rounder, while South Africa’s Marco Jansen moved two spots to the second place.
