Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli | GettyIndia’s assignment after the ongoing BGT 2024 Test series against Australia will be the white-ball series at home against England. This five-T20I, three-ODI series against England will be India’s only chance to prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament.

India will host England in a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series from 22 January to 12 February. The ODI series concludes just seven days before the start of the Champions Trophy.

As per the report, the BCCI selection committee is set to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming white-ball series against England at home. He will get a well-deserved rest before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 given that he has been toiling hard in 2024 in T20Is and Tests.

On the other hand, the decision on the availability of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be determined during the selection meeting. According to sources, both players want to participate in the three ODIs to gain momentum heading into the Champions Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah is leading India's pace attack in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia. The fast bowler has taken on the responsibility of an inexperienced pace line-up in the absence of Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out of the series due to injury.

During India's 184-run defeat in Melbourne, Bumrah bowled 53.2 overs, his highest total in a single Test in his career. He has bowled 140-plus overs in four Tests, the most for any bowler on either side in the series to date.

Bumrah is set to play a significant part in India's fortunes during the New Year's Test in Sydney, with the majority of the bowling burden in the series decider.

Bumrah was also nominated for ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 and the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024.
